Stats and perks to get in order for him to be good and militaryesk right off the bat and be able to protect his wife while they search for their child. I never do strong gun/heavy builds so I am at a loss of what S.P.E.C.I.A.L. I would also think he would be very family oriented which would lead him to be kind but cautious? I can't figure out based on what Bethesda provides us with if he would be persuasive or good with speech or not.
I know I want to go big into guns, and he would likely be a very strong guy considering his background. This playthrough will likely be very main-quest and minutemen/brotherhood focused considering Nate's background in the military. I rarely make male characters, but I have been reading a lot about the Nora WIP mod and wanna do a dual sole survivors play with both parents searching for their child together. I likely won't call him Nate, but you get the idea. I was thinking of doing a Nate RP for personal play so I don't interfere with my recording series.
